Bend jewelry designer attends prestigious events

John Paul, owner of John Paul Designs in downtown Bend recently attended two prestigious regional jewelers' trade shows.

He participated in the Northwest Metal/Jewelry Symposium, sponsored by the Seattle Metals Guild and the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle. The next day, he traveled to Los Angeles to attend the Western Jeweler’s Showcase at Universal Studio Hollywood’s Globe Theater, where he showed a platinum and 18k gold diamond and ruby engagement ring in the designer’s showcase.

In addition to his unique line of organic cast jewelry, John Paul is renowned in Bend for designing custom engagement and wedding rings. From diamonds set in platinum to a silver cast tamarack branch, all pieces are hand-made in the studio, making every purchase one-of-a-kind. The gallery also showcases an eclectic mix of jewelry, metalwork and sculpture by select area artists.

John Paul earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing from the University of Wisconsin Stout, and has apprenticed for five years before opening his own studio in Bend for the past six years. He is always looking for inspiring resources and additional knowledge for keeping his work and gallery fresh. The two events offered the perfect opportunity to do so by providing the perfect atmosphere for meeting with and learning from other designers and industry professionals throughout the west coast.
