THE OUTER BANKS WEDDING EXPO DRAWS 700 WEDDING PLANNERS

The Outer Banks Wedding Association’s Annual Wedding Expo on January 19 at First Flight Middle School was a rousing success, with a record number of nearly 700 brides and families from 8 states and 83 member exhibitors.

The annual Wedding Expo gives brides and local vendors the opportunity to meet and discuss options and services for the bride’s upcoming Outer Banks wedding. Sponsors for this year’s show were Mary Basnight Photographer, Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern, Shelley Chamberlin Photography, Metro Rental, and Holiday House Flowers and Gifts. Each year, the Wedding Expo just gets bigger and better, said OBWA President Kim Stetson.

The wedding business on the Outer Banks continues to grow by leaps and bounds as the Association spreads the word about the advantages of getting married here through activities like the Expo.

The highlight of this year’s Wedding Expo was the first-ever drawing for two Dream Beach Wedding Giveaways at the conclusion of the show. The two packages are a formal wedding affair at the Whalehead Club in Corolla and an intimate wedding at the Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island. Total value of both packages is over $12,000.

The winners of the Elizabethan Gardens wedding are Matt Russel and Mikki Martin of Chesapeake, VA. Jamey Shelton and Jaime Cramer of Wilmignton, NC, won the Whalehead Club wedding. OBWA will feature their stories and upcoming weddings on the OBWA web site and in future publicity.

The show also marked the premiere edition publication of Outer Banks Bride, the official bridal magazine and directory of the Outer Banks Wedding Association. The magazine is available from local OBWA members or via the Association’s web site.
