Wedding Dresses - at WINGS Resale Store in Palatine

Every bride-to-be needs to know about the amazing selection of wedding dresses recently donated to WINGS Resale Store in Palatine from a wedding boutique in Barrington. Located at 756 E. Northwest Highway the store has nearly 50 NEW and gently used wedding gowns going for a mere $125 each - a steal when the cost of a brand new gown can reach into the thousands.

All dress sales will help WINGS provide transitional housing and comprehensive services to women and children struggling with domestic violence and homelessness in the north and northwest suburban areas of Chicago. WINGS brand new domestic violence shelter will open in July of this year.

Tammy Graf a long-time volunteer for WINGS Resale Store, who recently took the position of Sales Associate there, has taken advantage of the low-priced dresses. She purchased a gown at the store to wear on the day her and her husband will renew their vows. After 20 years the high school sweethearts, originally married at a local waterfall park in Hawaii, decided to take the plunge again and include their three teenage children and four godchildren at a ceremony on the day they were married in 1984.

St.John’s Church in Palatine, also a supporter of WINGS, is the sight where the couple’s big day will take place. Graf said, WINGS plays a very important part in my life and is a wonderful service to women and children in the community. My husband and are so pleased that we could include them in the planning and celebration of the ceremony.

Gwen Kessler, WINGS Resale Store Manager says, We are so excited for Tammy and her husband. The fact that WINGS is tied into their big day really makes it special – not only for them, but for the women and children that WINGS serves.

Gently used clothing and other items are accepted Wednesday through Saturday. Wedding dresses ranging in size from 4 to 14 can be viewed at anytime during open hours. WINGS provides housing and services including counseling, life-skills training, financial management, and child development, which are designed to help women and children become self-sufficient and financially stable.

WINGS currently has 22 apartments and homes located in Skokie, Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Mount Prospect, Arlington Heights, Palatine and Barrington, which provide shelter for up to 90 women and children each night. In response to an unmet need, WINGS is building a 15,000 square foot Safe House in the northwest suburbs for victims of domestic violence. The shelter will have capacity for 45 women and children a night.
